Partners in Southern Cross Connexxions are Mieke Witsel and Hans Mol. We also work with other trainers and consultants to meet your needs.
 

Mieke Witsel MA, MACE, FRSA

Mieke is a motivated and enthusiastic teacher with a real feel for the people who attend her courses. Her strength lies in getting people to work as a group to communicate about issues that are important for them from a personal or business point of view.

 

Having taught English as a foreign language, business communication and intercultural communication in Europe for many years at various levels of education, ranging from young adults to businesses, she is quite capable of taking course participants on an exciting communicative ride … creating awareness of their strengths and weaknesses and improving their skills. She has also been a trainer for Cambridge Proficiency exams.

Mieke has a MA degree in intercultural communication (University of Amsterdam). She designs and teaches courses in intercultural communication, business communication, EFL, management and general communication skills, and is also involved in the writing of EFL course materials.

Her special interest areas are:

  • Getting people to talk and enjoy communicating
  • Multicultural Education
  • Leisure Management
  • Communication
  • Arts Management and Policy

On a consultancy basis, Mieke provides management training to corporations. This work involves analysis (what are the problems facing the management), design of training material and facilitation of the training itself. Management issues covered include: self-knowledge; team-building; communication theory and practice; presentation skills; intercultural communication; interpersonal skills; delegation and empowerment; conflict resolution; persuasion; coaching; discussion and negotiation skills. Companies that have received training cover diverse fields, such as: telecommunication companies (e.g. British Telecom), engineering companies (e.g. Comprimo North Sea Engineering), foodstuffs manufacturing (e.g. Grace Cocoa) and DIY chainstores (e.g. Praxis hardwares).

Hans Mol MA, MACE, FRSA

Hans is an experienced teacher and educational writer/course developer.

 

 

 

 

Hans has spent his career teaching English and business communication at levels ranging from primary schools to university level, as well as writing and publishing textbooks for the same (see publications). He also has many years of management experience in higher education and the publishing world.

His combined experience of teaching and management enables him to look at communication and teaching challenges from both sides of the educational coin: creativity in development and design, on the one hand, and efficient and practical outcomes necessary for the successful running of a classroom on the other. He has lots of experience with students from different cultures.

Hans has an MA degree in English language, linguistics and professional translation, and holds various teaching qualifications. He is a member of IATEFL and web resources editor as well as membership and finance officer for IATEFL's Young Learners Special Interest Group. He is also a member of the UK-based Materials Development Association (MATSDA), a member of the Association for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (NSW) and a member of the Australian Council of TESOL Associations.

His special interest areas are:

  • Teaching English to Young learners (0-18)
  • EFL ESL Course development for all age groups
  • Writing songs for the teaching of English
  • Series editing
